Get Active in Antigonish This Summer!

Are you looking for something active to do in Antigonish this summer? Check out the great options the Town of Antigonish has to offer!

TENNIS

This year the tennis courts will be busy with tennis for all ages from the beginning of July until August 25th. From Monday to Friday there are daily lessons for those aged 5 to 18+! Costs are as follows: $90/child, $160/2 children, $230/3 children.

The courts will be reserved for Mens’ Night on Tuesdays from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and Ladies’ Night on Wednesdays from 5:00 – 7:00P PM. Wednesday evenings there will also be Ladies’ Lessons on one court from 5:00 – 6:00PM and again from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

SUMMER SPLASH

There are lots of fun ways to find some water this summer. Here are a few:

Columbus Field Splash Pad: The new and improved splash pad will be open from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM daily throughout the summer.

Paddle Antigonish: This recreational paddling group heads out on Thursday evenings through the summer, alternating between ‘Introduction to Canoeing’ and ‘Introduction Kayaking’ sessions. All equipment is provided and it is FREE to participate. Adults only. Beginners welcome. To reserve your spot follow @asforan on Twitter. Stand Up Paddle Boarding: On Saturday, July 22nd, there will be Stand Up Paddle Boarding lessons at the Antigonish Boat Club in Seabright! Lessons are 1.5 hours in length and will run between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The cost is $20/person or $40/family.

Family Canoe Session: On Tuesday, August 1st, there will be a free recreational family paddle offered at Cameron Lake (25 minutes from Town, directions provided upon registration).

Family Beach Day: On Saturday, August 26th, a free bus will take families from various Town locations to Pomquet Beach for an afternoon of sand, sun, and splashing in the waves! This beach is lifeguarded. Book your free space on the bus today! The bus will be leaving Town at 11AM, and arriving at beach at 11:30AM. The bus will be leaving the beach at 2:30 PM and arriving back in Town at 3:00PM. Rain date is Sunday, August 27th.

GAMES IN THE PARK

All ages are welcome to come out and play games at local parks on evenings through the summer! Town Recreation staff and volunteers will facilitate classic games such as Hide-and-Seek, Capture the Flag, and Kick the Can! There will also be a Kan Jam “try-it” session to start the series off!

Night #1: KAN JAM. Tuesday, July 11th. Location will be Columbus Field. Time is 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

Night #2: CAPTURE THE FLAG. Wednesday, July 26th. Location will be Arbor Drive Park. Time is 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

Night #3: HIDE-AND-SEEK. Wednesday, August 9th. Location will be Columbus Field. Time is 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

Night #4: KICK THE CAN. Wednesday, August 23rd. Location will be Arbor Drive Park. Time is 6:00 – 7:00 PM.
