Local Quilt Guild Participates in Canada’s Biggest Quilt Bee
To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, the Compass Rose Quilters Guild of Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia is part of Canada’s biggest Quilt Bee. This is a national quilting project that will help sick kids across Canada. The Canadian Quilters’ Association is hosting Canada’s Big Quilt Bee June 14-17, 2017 in Toronto with a goal to make and donate 1,000 quilts for kids at Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada. At our March 6th workshop, 16 members of the Compass Rose Quilters Guild made over 100 slab blocks that were sent to Toronto where volunteers will sew these blocks as well as those from other guilds into quilts for the Ronald McDonald Houses.
The Compass Rose Quilters Guild is having their annual Quilt Show and Tea on April 29th from 1:30 to 4:00 at the Exhibit Centre in Sherbrooke Village. This is a popular event where the community is welcome to view quilts of all types and enjoy tea and sandwiches served by the ladies of the quilt guild. The goodwill offering will be donated to the Bus Fund – Highcrest Home for Special Care, Sherbrooke.
