After hosting successful Family and Friend events in Halifax and Cape Breton, the Society hopes to draw a crowd to its first event of this kind in Antigonish!

Family and Friends Night is an event that brings communities together to have a conversation on dementia. Guests have an opportunity to connect with old friends and meet new ones, ask questions and hear from people working in the field of dementia care and research.

The theme for the Antigonish event is Let’s Talk: Dementia Basics and will feature a panel of presentations from Dr. Mary Gorman, Leona Wilneff, Behaviour Resource Consultant and Beth Jackson, local coordinator with the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. “We all have a connection to dementia which is why it’s so important that families and friends learn as much as they can about the disease,” says Beth Jackson, local coordinator with the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The guest speakers will present on the symptoms of dementia, how to get a diagnosis, strategies to help with different behaviours and what community resources are available for families living with dementia. All are welcome – no registration required! See poster for details!
