The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation Lights of Love Campaign is commemorating its 20th Anniversary this year. Come join the celebrations this Christmas Holiday season by lighting the R.K. tree with bulbs dedicated to love. You can dedicate a bulb in memory of a deceased loved one or honour someone presently in your life.

This year’s fundraiser will be supporting the 2nd Phase of a Dementia-Friendly Healing and Sensory Garden, which will provide R.K. residents with access to a safe and secure outdoor space upon completion. Research has shown that humans have a spontaneous connection to our natural world and this garden will be designed to provide this wonderful outdoor environment for the residents’ enjoyment.

The generosity of so many in the past has done so much to enhance the R.K. residents’ lives. Some examples of previous projects supported by the campaign include a four seasons sunroom/greenhouse, an onsite dental care facility, paraplegic shower, shower commode chair, easy lift chairs and several rockers and recliners.

The tree will be lit and dedications read at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 in the R.K. Chapel. Following prayers, dedications and carols, refreshments will be served in the R.K. Dining Room. All dedications will be entered into a “Lights of Love Memorial Book”, which will be on display in the R.K. Chapel for the next year.

If you would like to dedicate a bulb in memory of a loved one and have not received a form in the mail, please contact the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation at 863-2578 ext. 223, drop by the R.K. and pick one up at the main entrance, or download the form here. Also, on December 3rd, a Board member will be available to accept your donation. All gifts will be receipted for income tax purposes.

The R.K. residents, staff and Foundation Board members look forward to celebrating our tree lighting and dedication ceremony with family, friends and generous supporters at 7:00 p.m. December 3, 2017.
